A quick bread review, I had to squeeze this in. I posted the image above on Instagram recently, people loved it! and I had a few requests for the recipe across social media…it’s not a secret! It’s Delicious Alchemy.
I’ve become a self styled brand ambassador for DA. I’ve mentioned before how much I love their products and how versatile they are in the kitchen for someone like me (a baking alchemist) who loves to experiment and in reality finds it almost impossible to stick to the recipe! As a blogger I am fortunate to get the odd packet mix for free every once in a while, but in all honesty my love of DA products was embedded well before I was sent a packet of their Christmas Fruit Cake Mix to try this time last year…by the way, watch this space, there are more exciting seasonal products on the way soon apparently!
On this occasion I decided to actually make white bread, nothing fancy, no added bits or tweaks. I’m super glad I did, it was delicious and I had to stop my hubby from eating it all and believe me he’s a snob when it comes to the right tasting bread!
You’ll have to excuse the chaos in the background, we’re in the middle of an extension at the moment. It’s all rather stressful, hence a surge in my baking recently, calms the nerves!
TOP TIP: I’ve learnt this from another bread mix that I love, use a spatula frequently dipped in water to smooth the dough to give it a beautiful shape and flawless finish. Also ensure you squeeze the wet spatula down the sides of the tin, this ensure an even rise. Finally ALWAYS score your bread before popping into the oven. You’ll get a beautiful rise, no cracks and the loaf will look awesome.
This loaf only lasted a day and I’ve not made a plain white since, however, other breads I have made with these mixes (and a few Glutarama tweaks) have last 2-3 days, with me toasting the bread on the 3rd day.
