Welcome to the first in my series of Meet the Maker, and my first gluten free business is Ananda with their Gluten Free Round Ups.
Disclaimer: this post has been paid for by Ananda Foods to help promote their recent Bronze Medal in the Free From Awards, I also received a gifted box of the limited edition gluten free Round Ups in four exciting new flavours. Plus one extra box to giveaway to one of you lucky readers!
How did Ananda Foods start out?
Ananda Foods began back in 2008 when owner Amanda found herself searching for suitable marshmallows for her children to toast on Bonfire Night. The search for a suitable vegan alternative had proven to be difficult and as with so many family run businesses, Amanda decided to make her own.
The vegan marshmallows proved incredibly popular and almost overnight Amanda’s homemade marshmallows became a business. This led to the family giving up their day jobs to focus on delicious treats fit for the world of free from.
Soon came the addition of the now infamous Round Ups, a vegan nut free version of the well known Waggon Wheel Chocolate Biscuit.
As Amanda’s family have personal links with Coeliac Disease it was only fair to ensure that those on a gluten free diet could also enjoy the Rounds Ups. And so the Gluten Free Round Up was born.
Never miss out again…

How did you come up with the name?
‘Ananda means bliss in Sanskrit and we try to follow the Vedic principle of loving service when we make our products for people. It’s all about the energy when we bake and make. That and the best ingredients possible, of course‘.
I love this reasoning behind the name. Plus, I can relate to the positive energy when I bake and recipe develop, there is something very healing about it.
Who do you cater for?
At Ananda Foods the team are incredibly passionate about supporting the free from community. Therefore, the products are all made in a dedicated production facility with a 5 Star Food Hygiene Rating.
The marshmallows are all certified non-gmo and are free from gelatine, wheat, gluten, nut, dairy, egg and soya.
The Round Ups are free from gelatine, dairy, egg and nuts. Currently the chocolate contains soya – although the team are working on a soya free chocolate. And finally the gluten free Round Ups are all this and free from wheat, rye, oats and barley.
Our customers whisper such sweet nothings in our ears when they meet us at food fairs that we feel we ‘did good’!Ananda Foods
What other delicious Free From products do you sell?
If your drool setting wasn’t set to max already then hold on tight because the product range at Ananda Foods is vast. They are one of the most on-the-ball businesses I’ve found when it comes to Seasonal Products and flavours of the moment. As a result, to list the products here would be foolish as limited editions come and go.
Marshmallows – the firm favourites you will always find at Ananda’s are the strawberry, raspberry, vanilla, caramel and coconut marshmallows
Biscuits – not gluten free but there are 6 delicious cookie bundles to choose from in eco-friendly packaging
Lollies – yes, you read that right, marshmallow lollies. A wonderous idea that currently comes in five flavours and four are gluten free. These also make wonderful gift ideas, indeed any of the Ananda products come in gift worthy eco-friendly boxes so why keep them to yourself, treat someone you love too.
Where can people buy your products?
Ananda products are currently all available via the online shop and can also be found dotted around the Derbyshire and Yorkshire area in independent shops and businesses. For a stocklist click the link and for the online shop click the button below.
Are you trying to be eco-friendly?
A firm nod of the head here.
We hope that by working ethically and sustainably, eliminating allergens, animal products, non-food additives and environmentally harmful packaging, everyone will be able to enjoy eating our Marshmallows.Ananda Foods
The Round Ups and gift boxes are zero waste. Ananda use shred fill in the gift box which is made with a percentage of remnants from coffee cup production. The Round Ups are wrapped in foil with cardboard sleeves and the box is cardboard.
The question isn’t: ‘How can I change the world?’ because each and every one of us does so every day. The question is really: ‘In what way do I change it?’Ananda Foods
Meet the team behind Ananda Foods
There are currently six members of the Ananda Foods team and each and everyone is as passionate as the other in their work. Creating the very best quality vegan Marshmallows and Round Ups.
Amanda is the creator. Eve, Monique and Amy are the Production Team working hard for our benefit. Last but by no means least Rhini and Russell are the cogs that keep everything running in the admin team.
Have you won any awards yet?
I gave the game away at the beginning of this review, but Ananda Foods recently won the Bronze Award in the Free From Food Awards for the Confectionary Category. They had some tough competition this year and a Bronze Award is frankly outstanding.

What do we think about Ananda’s Products?
I have a confession to make, I am totally addicted to Ananda’s Round Ups and Marshmallows. Phew! glad I got that off my chest.
I remember my very first Round Up, it was after visiting the Woburn House Garden Show in 2019. Many an opportunity had been missed at the Free From Allergy Shows in London. I always seemed to miss the Ananda stand, then I’d see later that other gluten free bloggers had been stuffing their faces with Gluten Free Round Ups and posted about it.
When I first met Amanda I distinctly remember telling her excited I was to finally get to try them and take them home to my Coeliac daughter Bethany. Since then I’ve been buying Round Ups and Marshmallows on a regular basis.
As I am not myself gluten free, I have been able to enjoy the other flavours available. I have to say the lime flavour and orange flavour ones are to die for. But when Amanda approached me to tell me about the limited edition gluten free selection boxes I was beyond excited. At last! Bethany could also try different flavour round ups;
