Welcome to my Guide for Gluten Free small businesses that currently deliver across the UK [Updated: March 2024]. This has been a research project of epic proportion and I have a sneaky feeling it’s going to get bigger. I also have a sinking feeling that it’s going to be an infinity guide in the fact that I will forever be updating it with changes. But hey, it is a caretaking job I’m prepared to undertake to support small businesses getting their products out into the free from world.

Have you been asking yourself ‘where can I buy gluten free products online?’ Whether you’re housebound, live rurally want to send a free from food parcel to a loved one or simply want to support a small gluten free business further afield. I truly hope this will go some way to answer that question for you.

When this gluten free delivery guide began, there were 116 businesses listed. I’ve discovered many more during my research, but there are two reasons I have decided not to include them all in the guide at this time.

Reason 1: If products are made in an environment that also makes non-gluten free goods, I contacted the seller direct to quiz them on their understanding of cross contamination. Where the seller did not satisfy my request, I have decided not to include them on this occasion.

Reason 2: I made the decision that I wanted my Guide to be easily accessible to my readers. Therefore, I have chosen to only include small businesses that have a website you can click on to read product information before you make your purchases. This may seem harsh for small business owners, however, having a website means my reader has easy access to contact details, ingredients, and prices. It also implies that the businesses are in it for the long haul and less likely to stop selling.

How have I classified this Guide?

I ran a poll on my social accounts Instagram and Facebook to ask my followers how they would rather see a guide categorised. As you can see from the results people preferred dietary then sweet or savoury. Some made a strong case in the comments for having an A-Z directory so that they may encounter new businesses for the first time.

A couple asked for me to add a location category. Initially I thought this would too tall an order plus, this is a UK wide delivery gluten free guide, therefore location wasn’t an issue. However, someone mentioned it would be nice to see if suitable bakeries were in areas where they plan to visit. I sat with this idea for a couple of days and decided to add location to the A-Z list.

Ultimately, I wanted to create a guide that was easy to navigate and accessible to as many users as possible. Therefore, I have chosen to incorporate all three options. I’ve added an example below of how I have achieved this however, there are three handy buttons you can click that will zap you to the category that suits your needs best. These three categories are A-Z, Sweet and Savoury.

Why have you not included other allergens? Many of you will appreciate that the world of free from and allergies is rocky terrain. Nobody knows better than you what your dietary needs are and how cautious you are when buying new products. For this fact I have chosen not to add all 14 allergens in the key. For many diagnosed with Coeliac Disease, dairy intolerance is common which is why I’ve added this. Veganism is a choice not a medical need but where egg or dairy allergies are involved use your discretion.

What type of business have I included in this Guide for Gluten Free small businesses?

Initially this guide was for small to medium gluten free bakeries but as my research expanded and recommendations came in the guide expanded. The final gluten free guide includes sweet and savoury baked products as well as baking mixes.

To keep this guide from turning into something resembling the Yellow Pages, I have chosen not to include small brands and businesses that produce naturally gluten free products. The items for sale have been developed specifically to exclude gluten from them where gluten would normally be present. Therefore, natural oils, condiments, ingredients that can be found free from gluten have not been included.

Do you know a gluten free business that has been missed off?

Now I am 100% certain that some of you will get to the bottom of this list and ask yourself ‘but where’s [insert small companies name]’.

The onus is on you to comment using the comment box at the end of this guide to let me know who I’ve missed out. As soon as I receive your recommendation, I will do my little bit of research to see if they tick all the boxes for this guide and if they do I will gladly add them.

ANGELIC, Inverness (GF, Ve) a selection of packaged cookies and savoury crackers plus snacks ideal for kiddies lunch boxes too.

APPROVED FOOD, Barnsley (GF, DF, Ve) this is a bit hit and miss but I’ve scooped some amazing deals before on GF goodies. Products are near or past their sell by date but are still good to eat. A great place to bulk buy in uncertain financial times. Foods I have got in the past have been baking mixes, flours, biscuits, pasta, cooking sauces and so on…

BAKED BY NEELU, Leicester (GF, DF, Ve) browse cookies and brownies with lots of different flavours to choose from. Neelu also stocks bake-your-own kits and gift cards.

BAKED TO TASTE, Devon (GF) a couple of vegan options but mainly gluten free and dedicated wheat free too for those unable to have codex wheat starch. The choice here is mind blowing. Cakes, scones, pastry blocks, pies, quiche, bread I could go on…

BAKED WELL @ HOME, Barnstaple, Devon (GF, DF, Ve) How about making your own fresh cupcakes and cookies with these lovely baking kits. Everything you need in terms of dry ingredients and cases. Alternatively, ready-made cookies are available too.

BAKERY SUGAR BOX, Kelso, Roxburghshire (GF, Ve) beautifully decorated shortbread biscuits with standard or personalised messages, all designs can be made in GF and vegan.

BAKING ‘N’ WITHOUT, Heol Cadifor, Swansea (GF, DF, Ve) a collection of baked breads and savoury scones and seasonal Panettone available for delivery. (cakes and cupcakes not deliverable).

BISCUIT BOUTIQUE, London (GF, DF, Ve) something a bit special. These are not your everyday treats and the price reflects this but if you fancy spoiling yourself or a loved one These artistic ‘biscuits’ are stunning.

BOROUGH 22, London (GF, DF, Ve) I would not be surprised if you’ve heard of Borough 22 before, gluten free and vegan doughnuts delivered to your door with lots of flavour options to choose from and NOW free from fried doughnuts too.
