I’ve been meaning to do a round up of my Homemade Gluten Free Cake Recipes but had been putting it off. Why? Because I didn’t think I had enough to warrant a round up so kept putting it off. But, it turns out that I have more than enough cake recipes.
I’ve categorised them into Gluten Free Fruit Cakes, Gluten Free Traditional Bakes, Gluten Free Chocolate Cakes and Gluten Free Special Occasion Cakes. There’s a handy ‘jump to’ link if you click the headings in this paragraph.
If you’re drooling at these recipes and want to see what else I have up my sleeve here on Glutarama, then check out the recipe collections below. All my recipes are gluten free and I’ve added subheadings of dairy free and vegan too for those who need them.
Gluten Free Fruit Cakes
There are lots of fruity Homemade Gluten Free Cake Recipes on my website, and this is because these are my personal favourite bakes. I’ve always been the one to reach for a slice of fruit loaf to go with my cup of tea. Always avoiding the sickly sweet chocolate cakes and ones with inches of buttercream. If I do have buttercream cakes, I scrape the buttercream off.
The wonderful thing about fruit cake is that I often use fruits I’ve harvested myself, or have been kindly given. Isn’t there something deeply satisfying about making a cake with fruit direct from Mother Nature by-passing the shops.
Gluten Free Traditional Bakes
By Traditional Gluten Free Cake Recipes, I mean the ones that have travelled throughout history and have a story to tell. In many cases you’ll find I do a bit of research into these bakes and share my findings with you in the post. It’s the historian in me. I can’t help myself and I have to use my Masters in History for something don’t I?
Gluten Free Chocolate Cakes
I’m not a huge chocolate cake fan, so when I decided to add a Chocolate Lovers Gluten Free Cake Recipes section, I thought I’d struggle. Turns out I have plenty of chocolaty recipes. Notice that I’ve been sneaky and squeezed a lot of fruit and veggies into those chocolate cakes though.
Gluten Free Special Occasion Cakes
I’m not a ‘Great British Bake Off Showstopper’ type of baker. You won’t find 100 tiered cakes adorned with oodles of sweet decorations and beautiful piping here. If you know this blog already, you’ll know our lives are a bit different and finding time to make showstoppers isn’t possible a lot of the time. For a bit of background, feel free to check out my post A day in the life of Diabetes and Coeliac Disease! or Autism, Diabetes, Coeliac’s and Mental Health: catchy title eh?
That said, I do have some special occasion cake recipes for Christmas, Easter and celebrations.
